Vocal Warm Ups for Children’s Choirs

Here is the first in my series of children’s choir warm ups. Use at the beginning of a session to focus children. It encourages rhythmic and pitch accuracy as it gets faster and allows for some creativity and choice for the children.

My children’s choirs love singing this and coming up with their own three syllable animals – usually after I explain what a syllable is. I often use this as a way into improvising – can you think of other words that fit the pattern? How does that work musically?
