Brighter Days – Emeli Sandé – SAB Choir arrangement

This is a gospel-inspired, uplifting number from 2022 to rouse your audience. Perfect for concerts throughout the year, it features some challenges for the sopranos and difficult rhythms throughout. It was performed at the 2023 Bexley Festival of Music by the massed secondary choir – made up of over 200 singers from secondary schools around the borough.

When teaching this one, spend some time on grounding the melody, especially rhythmically, before adding harmony parts in. The melody mostly sits with the soprano line, but moves to the alto part in the bridge, deliberately to use the powerhouse altos for that section.

The second to last chorus features some gospel style woahs under the main melody. Sit into them, with a warm, round sound, to support the top line.

Available for buy from Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus.

As of April 17th 2024, new voicings are now available – for SSA and SATB choirs. Find links to the site you’d like to buy from here.

Watch the sheet music video below to get a feel for the arrangement, with all parts recorded by me, as teaching tracks for choir leaders.
